Getting started training
This is a short introduction course for new Leaders and adult supporters. The course covers the fundamentals of Scouting, an introduction to our health and safety policy and child protection.
To help you get up to speed quickly, you should look to complete your Getting Started Induction within your first 5 months in role.
You can also complete this learning via elearning by completing these four courses: (Click on titles to go to elearning)
When you have completed each of these courses, send a copy of your completion certificate to our Local Training Administrator (John Foster) to update your learning records. You will need to have a short conversation about Module 1 – Essential Information with your training advisor to validate the knowledge you have gained from the learning.

- Anyone may book a place on any of the modules regardless of where they are being run. To book, please use the booking links in the details of the course.
- Training is free to Scouting volunteers in Gloucestershire, and you will be reimbursed reasonable travel expenses where necessary.
- Open evenings/validation sessions, where published, are for anyone who wishes to discuss their personal learning plan or who has modules requiring validation. The elements to be covered before validation can take place are shown in the Adults Personal File which will usually be given to you by your Training Adviser at your first meeting.
